According to Vǫluspá this is a hall covered with gold in which mankind will live after the Ragnarǫk. According to the Gylfaginning, this is a heavenly place where good people will live after their deaths and lies in the third heaven Víðbláinn. It is unreachable for Surtr’s world conflagration, destined to destroy the whole world (see Surtalogi), and is inhabited until then by light elves[1] [2]

Gimle[1] (Gimlé) oder Gimli ist in der nordischen Mythologie der Ort, wo die Überlebenden des Ragnarök hinkommen. Er ist in der Prosa-Edda und im Völuspá erwähnt. Er gilt dort als der schönste Ort im Asgard und sogar schöner als die Sonne.
